Gralloch

Gralloch starts with a beautifully framed shot of a typical Highland scene, reminiscent of the painting ‘Monarch of the Glen’ by Edwin Landseer. The camera follows a stalker who prepares and then disembowels a newly caught stag. As the stalker leaves an eagle swoops into shot and descends to devour the fresh and steaming innards. At once the camera shifts to the head of the stag where the eyes instantly open, revealing the head to be a masked figure. This creates an unsettling moment, with an almost existential situation developing with the stag being all too aware of his own consumption.
